The new 2013/14 Management Committee met for the first time in April. We’re looking forward to another great year for children, staff and families at Derby Street and are pleased to have some new committee members on board and to welcome some continuing members back.
Amongst general business the Management Committee are currently looking to restructure sessional kinder hours for 2014 with the intention to better support the children, staff and ensure the financial viability of the Centre. A number of subcommittees have also been set up for the year to coordinate events like the Christmas party and Bunning’s BBQ and to provide support in areas like employment and training.
As you know the Centre has recently been assessed against the National Quality Standards and received very good results. This assessment provides great feedback regarding what Derby Street is doing well and some areas in which we can do even better. The Management Committee would like to express their thanks again to all staff for their hard work throughout the accreditation process.
Louise also recently represented Derby Street when she spoke at the University of Melbourne to a group of students enrolled in the Masters of Education program. She shared her knowledge, experience and advice about managing and working in early childhood education and care settings and was very well received.
Finally, our thanks to all members of the outgoing 2012/13 Committee of Management who achieved a great deal over last year including overseeing the building works. In particular, thanks to the outgoing president, Fiona Jeal, for all her work on Committee and for her contributions to the Centre.
