Derby Street Children’s Centre

Derby Street Children’s Centre is a not-for-profit, community-based long day care centre, licensed and managed by a parent committee.

We offer fifty nine long day care places (full-time and part-time) for children aged between 3 months and 6 years. We also offer a government funded sessional Kindergarten program with different day/times options to suit different family routines.

As an incorporated association we are obliged to follow the rules contained in our Constitution and the guidelines provided by our funding bodies, the Education and Care Services National Law Act and Education and Care Services National Regulations. The Centre works under the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood and Care and will be assessed under the new National Quality Standards from 2018.

Derby Street Kindergarten was established on the current site in 1967. The Derby Street Children’s Centre was established in 1989 when the house next door to the kindergarten was demolished, making way for the buildings still in use today.
