Firstly we say goodbye to Cooper who moved up to the Busy Bees Room in October. We welcome Oliver. P and Tiyaan into the Ducklings Room from the Tiny Tots. We celebrated many duckling birthdays in October, they were: Camilla, Indie, Ione and Koby who all turned three. Harriet celebrated her 2nd birthday at the end of October. In November we are celebrating Luca and Hannah’s birthdays.
Over the past month the Ducklings have been watching the big digger working at our back fence lifting and digging on the land behind the patch out in our playground. The children have been fascinated in watching the worms crawl and slitter through the dirt. Sharni brought in a storybook about worms and read it to the children at grouptime. One comment from Koby “The worm is popping his head up”. We had a supermarket setup outside within our cubbyhouse in which the children were able to use telephones, cash registers, baskets and assorted fruit, vegies, food to buy. We added shopping trolleys to the area then after two weeks staff added the dress-ups and assorted hats to this area.
We have been teaching the ducklings the ‘TWO LITTLE DICKY BIRDS’ song at grouptime with the children using individual bird finger-puppets. The song goes:

We have been giving each child a finger-puppet and using their names in the song while singing. We have been reading Maisey books at grouptime. Maisy goes shopping, Maisy Bus, Maisy goes swimming.
Over the next six weeks Katie and Sharni will be planning Christmas experiences for the Ducklings to make for their families for 2012.
