Tiny Tots – March Update

We would like to say a massive welcome to all of the families and children at Derby Street Children Centre, what a great start to a new year.

We have a lot of new babies that have started this year. It’s taken a few weeks for all of the children to settle in and get used to all the new faces but they have all done an amazing job and have begun feeling comfortable within the tiny tot’s room.

While the weather has been so beautiful, we have been incorporating a lot of water in our outdoor play by adding water to the sand and watering the plants, the children have shown such a massive interest in water and sensory activities.

Earlier this year, we introduced some of the children to the Kinder Room guinea pigs, Spikey and Ginger. The children absolutely loved the guinea pigs and they did so well at being gentle with them patting them softly and making sure that they were gentle when picking them up, that we have decided to adopt two new furry guinea pig friends in our room. The guinea pigs will stay within the centre during the week and will go home with Louise on the weekends. If you are interested in taking some guinea pigs home on the weekends, please speak to the kinder staff to arrange to take home Spikey and Ginger home for the weekend. We would like to start a photo album of the adventures that Ginger and Spikey have while spending the weekends away with the families and encourage our families to volunteer to take these beautiful animals home.

We will be experimenting with messy play in the near future. We ask that parents bring spare clothes in case clothes get wet and dirty.  Old clothes are much preferred while at childcare because even with art smocks clothes may still get dirty.

We will soon be making a family tree in the room so that we can get to know your child and family, we would also like to know a bit about the child’s culture so if there is anything you would like to share with us we would love to hear from you as children and families teach us as much as we teach them.

We wish Leo, Hannah Lucas and Jaska a very happy birthday and hope you all had a very beautiful day with friends and family. For birthdays within the centre you can order an ice cream cake to share with your child’s friends. If you are interested in this please talk to room staff, office staff or desi.

Thankyou so much for such a great start to the year
Many thanks Brooke, Jaspreet and Mariam
