Ducklings – March Update

We would like to welcome all our families into the duckling’s room both new and old. We look forward to working with you to further your child’s development.

Most of children have settled into the duckling’s room very well and have started to establish friendship with other children through their interactions. Many have continued the friendships they developed last year which has been nice to watch.

The information we gather from the children’s interactions with each other and their play will help us to set up appropriate play spaces . We are currently learning: colour recognition, stacking blocks onto sticks, using our imagination to build houses and manipulating different art materials.

We are also focusing on allowing the children the opportunity to develop the self-help and independent skills for example finding their hats from the basket, when they finish their lunch they can bring back their bowls and spoons to the trolley and after toilet or before eating they can wash their hands.

We are doing group times for singing songs and reading a book before lunch or before afternoon tea. This month we are reading these books to the children

“Spot Goes to School”, “I Spy”, “Hooray for fish!” and “Dear Zoo”.

A few children have started toilet training. Parents are encouraged to discuss thier childrens needs with staff.

Lastly, Happy Birthday to Amani who celebrated her 2nd birthday on the 26th of February. We hope you had lots of fun.
